We tell you the four main processes that in Prestige are dedicated to the production of our solid wood furniture.
The creation of luxury wooden furniture in Prestige means to employ both special machineries for specific processes, and the experience and the great skills of our craftsmen who contribute every day with their hands to give life to those class products.
They take part to the woodwork in four different steps:
Milling
After the careful selection of the materials and the cutting of the wood planks, the first working action is the milling.
A rotating milling cutter in contact with the wood digs grooves, edgings and moldings, and give rise to the first geometric patterns when required by the design.
Carving
In Prestige, classic furniture producer, we know just one way to perform this so delicate and complex manual work: entrusting it to skillful hands. Decorations by carving are well handled by true master carpenters who first draw the figure on the bare wood and then proceed slowly with deft strokes of chisel to give shape to the wood, making sure to maintain the proper notch depth to ensure the smooth and uniform game of light created by the trim.
Shaping and sanding
Through appropriate machineries, the wooden boards, previously cut and milled, are then shaped according to the required design. The following step is the sanding, first of all mechanical and then manual in order to eliminate all the impurities from the material.
Painting
The coating is different depending on the component that is to be painted. It can be chosen a primer to strengthen the wood, colored paints or other glazes. The painting is done with an airbrush, paying attention to the direction of the wood grain. This operation is very delicate because the wood has natural irregularities that could be highlighted by an imperfect painting; that is why we guarantee the utmost care during the varnishing process.
Those four steps are part of a larger process that starts from the birth of the idea and ends with the final installation, whether we produce custom luxury furniture or create design items.
